Dr. Chewang Norbu Bhutia is from Sikkim and is a trained veterinarian with a deep love for animals, people, and sustainable living. He completed his Bachelor’s in Veterinary Sciences from Mizoram and his Postgraduate studies in Veterinary Medicine from GADVASU, Ludhiana. Over the years, he has worked closely with rural communities, farmer groups, SHGs, and handloom clusters, providing skill training and practical support to improve livelihoods. His research on natural fibers, especially German Angora rabbit fiber in Northeast India, has also been published internationally. With a strong belief in ethical and eco-friendly practices, he founded Crafted Fibers under Fibersgenix Pvt. Ltd. The brand focuses on natural fibers, traditional weaving, and creating sustainable opportunities for local artisans. He has also supported the Gurung community of Chuba in developing their brand Chubako, which won the Global Eco Artisan Award in Paris in 2022 under the Endangered Craft category. Through his work, Dr. Bhutia continues to support artisans, preserve traditional crafts, and promote responsible fashion in a simple and meaningful way.
